About Smithfield Raspberries
Smithfield Raspberries grows raspberries, blackberries and a third berry variety at 90 Smithfield Road, Ashburton, but only the raspberries are open for picking yourself; the farm is explicit that it does not offer pick your own on its other berries. The Waiau and Selwyn raspberry varieties are grown for picking. The farm's shop is open seven days a week from 8am to 5.30pm during the season, which the farm states runs from 29 November to 18 January, closing only on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and 2 January. Outside the picking season the farm still sells frozen fruit, but only by appointment. Payment is by cash, eftpos, paywave or credit card.
