About Lavender Backyard Garden
Lavender Backyard Garden is a lavender and blueberry farm on Marshmeadow Road at Newstead, a short drive from central Hamilton. It is New Zealand's only combined lavender and blueberry pick-your-own farm. Visitors pay a field admission fee, then pick their own blueberries by the kilo in their own container or pay to pick and eat on the spot, and cut their own lavender for a per-jar-ring price. The 2025/26 season ran from late November to the end of January, with the shop open shorter hours in the lead-up before the fields fully opened 9am to 5pm daily. The farm has confirmed its next pick-your-own season begins in December 2026, though exact opening dates and prices for that season had not yet been posted as of late August 2026. No pets are allowed on site, and drone flying and commercial or wedding photography during opening hours are not permitted without a booked arrangement. The farm also sells lavender products, blueberries and gift boxes, and has a small vintage floral shop on site.
