About Blue Acres Blueberries
Blue Acres Blueberries is a spray-free pick-your-own blueberry orchard in the Pohangina Valley, about 8 kilometres along Pohangina Valley Road from Ashhurst and around 25 minutes from central Palmerston North. Visitors pick their own container of blueberries and pay by weight at the end, with fresh and frozen berries also sold from the shop for those who would rather not pick. The farm's own site gives opening hours of 9am to 2pm and is signposted from the road. Payment is cash only, so visitors should bring cash and their own container. The picking season runs through December and into January while the crop lasts, and it is a popular spot in the valley, so arriving early in the morning makes it easier to find parking and a good row to pick from. Raumai Reserve, nearby on the Pohangina River, is a common stop for a picnic after picking.
