About Blueberry Country - Ohaupo Orchard
Blueberry Country's Ohaupo orchard is one of four run by the same family business, on Jary Road at Ōhaupō in the Waikato. Visitors take a bucket from the orchard store or caravan, pick their own blueberries in the rows, then weigh and pay by the kilo. Picking runs every day from the first weekend of December through to Waitangi weekend in February, with weekday and weekend or public holiday pricing, and a discount for pickers who take more than 10kg. An on-site cafe sells real fruit ice cream, snacks and drinks, and there is parking and a picnic-friendly area. Frozen blueberries are sold from the office year round, open weekdays 8:30am to 4:30pm, though this is separate from the pick-your-own picking hours. Dogs are not permitted, children must be supervised in the rows, and visitors are asked to sample only a few berries for taste rather than eat freely while picking. Group bookings are needed for school trips, corporate outings or large parties.
